Icey vs LMN for Snow Removal: A Snow Tool or a Landscaping Suite?

8 min read · Updated 2026-10-28

LMN is the better pick for a landscaping company that also plows and wants one system for budgets, estimates, job costing and payments all year. Icey is the better pick for a snow and ice company that wants per-event rate cards, a storm board, a salt log at every site and a free plan it can sign up for by itself.

We make Icey Software, so read this with that in mind. LMN is landscaping software from Granum, which also makes SingleOps and Greenius, and LMN’s site says it has been helping landscapers since 2009. Every LMN fact below is from Granum’s own website, checked on October 27, 2026. Prices change, so confirm on their site before you decide.

Quick answer

  • Pick LMN if snow is your winter line and landscaping is the rest of the year. LMN is built around budget-based estimating and job costing, and its snow page says it “tracks plow passes, salt applications, and proof of service”.
  • Pick Icey if snow and ice is the business. Free forever up to 10 sites and 5 crew. Every feature. You sign up yourself, with no demo call, and quote per-event rate cards with de-icing as its own visit, with the salt included in the price or listed separately.
  • Price: LMN Starter starts at $297 USD a month, billed monthly, after a one-time onboarding fee. Icey is free for up to 10 sites and 5 crew; above that, paid plans are priced by sites, from $119 CAD a month for 11–35 sites, with every driver included.

What it costs: 20 sites and a crew of 4

Monthly price
LMN Starter$297 USD a month, billed monthly, after a one-time onboarding fee (1 office/crew-lead licence and 5 crew licences)
Icey Software$119 CAD a month in Canada or $85 USD in the United States, the price for 11–35 sites, with every driver included

For an operation this size Icey costs less: $85 USD a month for a company in the United States, or $119 CAD in Canada, against $297 USD a month for LMN Starter before its one-time onboarding fee. Even at the Canadian dollar’s strongest, $119 CAD has never been worth $297 USD.

Price is only half of it. LMN’s plans cover far more than snow, all year — budgets, estimating, a customer portal and card payments on every plan, and job costing from Professional. If you would use those, compare LMN with the tools you would otherwise pay for. If your work is snow and ice and you would leave most of that unused, you would be paying for tools you don’t need.

Where LMN is stronger

  • All year, one system. LMN is landscaping software first, so your summer crews, clients and estimates live in the same place as your winter work. Icey is for snow and ice only.
  • Estimating and job costing. LMN builds snow prices from your own time, salt and machine costs, and its Professional plan adds real-time job costing. Icey prices with rate cards and seasonal contracts and has no job-costing tools.
  • Getting paid. LMN Pay takes card and ACH payments, and every plan has a customer portal and text messaging. In Icey you mark an invoice paid by hand when the money arrives.
  • Accounting. LMN connects to QuickBooks Online on every plan, and to QuickBooks Desktop from Professional up. Icey exports a CSV file in the format QuickBooks imports.
  • Bilingual crews and a long track record. LMN Crew is available in English and Spanish, and LMN has been around since 2009.

Where Icey is stronger, or simply different

  • Free, and you start today. Free forever up to 10 sites and 5 crew. Every feature. No demo call, no credit card and no onboarding step to book. LMN starts with a demo and lists no free plan.
  • Built around storms, not jobs. A storm board dispatches the whole storm, and routes are optimized for traffic with priority sites first.
  • De-icing priced as its own visit. Per-event rate cards price plowing and de-icing as separate visits, with the salt included in the price or listed separately, and each site’s service area drawn on satellite imagery. Accepting the quote makes the site active for the season.
  • A salt log on every plan. Crews log what went down, how much and when, at every site, and it stays in your own records — the client’s site report shows the visit and the photos, not the amounts. See salt tracking.
  • A site report for every completed visit, with the time and the photos, kept on the job. See proof of service.
  • Weather on every plan. The Weather Center shows the forecast for your service area, with a “Notify me” alert you can switch on for when it crosses your snowfall trigger.
  • Pay for winter only. Icey’s paid plans are monthly with no contract, so you can drop back to Free for the summer and nothing is deleted.

We have not run a storm on LMN, so we can’t tell you how LMN Crew feels with gloves on or how its offline mode holds up. LMN starts with a demo: ask them to show you a real storm’s records — the plow passes, the salt and the proof of service — and which plan you need for each.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does LMN cost?

As of October 27, 2026, LMN Starter starts at $297 USD a month with 1 office/crew-lead licence and 5 crew licences, and LMN Professional at $648 USD a month with 3 and 15. Both are billed monthly after a one-time onboarding fee, and extra licences cost more. Enterprise is priced by quote.

Does LMN have a free plan or a free trial?

Not on its pricing page, checked October 27, 2026: you start by booking a demo. Icey’s Free plan is free forever for up to 10 sites and 5 crew, with every feature.

Does LMN do snow removal?

Yes. Granum’s snow and ice page says LMN plans snow passes, plow routes and priority zones, prices snow work seasonally or per event from your time, salt and machine costs, tracks plow passes, salt applications and proof of service, and makes invoices from crew logs after an event.

Is LMN or Icey cheaper for a snow crew?

Take 20 sites and a crew of 4. LMN’s price also covers landscaping and payments (job costing starts on Professional), so compare what you would use.

Which one tracks salt?

Both say they do. Icey logs salt and de-icer per site at every visit, on every plan, and keeps the amounts in your own records. LMN’s snow page says it tracks salt applications, and its pricing page lists material tracking on Professional and Enterprise, so ask LMN which plan you need.

Can I move my client list into Icey?

Yes. Icey imports clients and sites from a CSV file, so you don’t retype them. LMN’s pricing page lists client-list import too.
