Text alerts (SMS)

Icey text alerts

Storm alarms and shift call-outs, texted to snow and ice crews by Icey Software on behalf of the company they work for. Opt in with one switch in the Icey app. Reply STOP to any text to stop.

Who sends these texts

Icey Software (Annual Software Ltd.) makes software that snow and ice management companies use to run their crews. When your employer uses Icey, Icey sends their crew alerts to you by text, from Icey's own number, on your employer's behalf.

What we text

  • Storm alarms. When your company sounds a storm alarm and you have not answered it in the app within 5 minutes, a backup text.
  • Shift call-outs. “[your company]: Snow expected. Are you available for the night shift? Reply YES or NO.”, a reminder if you have not answered, and your route when you are assigned one (“Can you work? Reply Y or N”).
  • Urgent account alerts to owners. Owners and admins of a company that uses Icey may get urgent alerts about their own account, such as a storm plan waiting for their approval.

No marketing or promotional texts, ever.

How you opt in

Your company adds you to Icey and you sign in to the Icey app with your own login. Then, in Profile, turn on “Text me storm alarms and call-outs”. The switch shows the number the texts go to, which you can correct in Your phone number on the same screen, and this wording sits directly under it:

Text me storm alarms and call-outs

By turning this on, you agree to get text messages from Icey about storm alarms and shift call-outs from [your company]. Message frequency varies with the weather. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop or HELP for help. See iceysoftware.com/sms, our Privacy Policy and Terms.

Texts go to (604) 555-0142 (Your phone number, above)

[your company] is your employer's name in the app. The number is an example.

Turning it on records your consent: the date and time, the exact wording above, and the number. You can also opt in by texting START to the number Icey's alerts come from. Opting in is never a condition of buying anything, and storm alarms and call-outs still reach you in the app if you leave it off.

How often

Message frequency varies with the weather: none in a quiet week, several in one storm night. Message and data rates may apply. Icey does not charge you for these texts.

Stop, help and start again

Reply STOP to any text to stop them, or turn the switch off in Profile. Reply HELP for help, and START to get them again.
