We make Icey Software, so read this with that in mind. Yeti is a good product built for the same work, and both companies are in British Columbia — Yeti in Langley, Icey in North Vancouver. This is the comparison we would want to read: where Yeti is the better pick, where Icey is, and what each costs.
Every Yeti fact below is from Yeti’s own website, checked on October 3, 2026. Prices change, so confirm on their site before you decide.
The short answer
Pick Yeti if you run a crew of more than 5 drivers, work with subcontractors, want QuickBooks Online to sync on its own, or keep your crews busy with lawn care in summer. Yeti prices by sites, not users, so a bigger crew doesn’t raise the bill.
Pick Icey if you want to start free — the Free plan has up to 5 operator seats and up to 15 active sites, with unlimited office users — or you sell per-event rate cards and seasonal contracts with salt built into the price and want the weather and storm alerts included on every plan.
Pricing side by side (as of October 2026)

A worked example: 20 sites and a crew of 4
| Monthly price | |
|---|---|
| Yeti | $95 USD/month (its 1–25 site price; users aren’t charged) |
| Icey Software | Pro: $79 CAD/month — its 5 included operator seats cover all 4 |
For a crew this size Icey is cheaper: $79 CAD a month against $95 USD on Yeti, at any exchange rate — even at the Canadian dollar's strongest, $79 CAD has never been worth $95 USD. Icey Pro's price includes 5 operator seats, so a crew of up to 5 pays no seat charge.
For a crew that fits Icey’s Free plan (up to 5 operator seats and up to 15 active sites), Icey costs nothing, while Yeti’s site lists its plan from $95 USD a month.
Where Yeti is stronger
- Bigger crews cost less. Yeti prices by sites, so adding drivers doesn’t change the bill. Icey Pro includes 5 operator seats and charges for each one beyond that.
- Subcontractors. Yeti’s FAQ says subs use its app at no extra charge to you or them; they follow your logging and photo standard, and a sub’s invoice isn’t approved unless the work is logged in Yeti. Icey has no subcontractor tools for new accounts.
- Accounting sync. Yeti lists an integration with QuickBooks Online. Icey exports invoices as a QuickBooks CSV that you import yourself.
- All year. Yeti switches a site from plow to mow, so the same crews and sites carry into lawn and property maintenance. Icey is for snow and ice work only.
- Android. Yeti’s app is on Google Play. Icey’s Android app is still in testing, so Android crews use Icey in the phone’s browser.
- More built in, and a longer track record. Yeti lists time tracking, reporting and client notifications, its FAQ says you can export an audit report when a claim comes in, and it says it has managed more than four million jobs.
Where Icey is stronger, or simply different
- A free plan. up to 5 operator seats and up to 15 active sites, free for as long as you want, no credit card. Yeti’s site lists no free plan.
- Weather on every plan. Icey’s Weather Center and its “Notify me” storm alert are included; Yeti lists weather reporting as an add-on.
- Quotes built the way snow is sold. Per-event rate cards, where plowing and de-icing are priced as separate visits, or seasonal contracts paid in monthly instalments — with salt included in the price, the service area drawn on satellite imagery, and the client signing on their phone. Accepting the quote makes the site active for the season.
- Salt stays off the client’s report. Crews log material per site at every visit; the client’s site report shows the visit and the photos, and the amounts stay in your records. See proof of service.
- Made for dead zones. Field Mode saves starts, finishes, photos and material logs on the phone with no signal and syncs them later.
We have not run a storm on Yeti, so we can’t tell you how its quoting or offline handling compares in practice. Both have a money-back window — 60 days on Yeti’s plans, 60 days on Icey Pro — so run a real storm on each before you commit.
Who should pick which
- A crew of more than 5 drivers: Yeti, more so the bigger the crew — it doesn’t charge per user, and Icey Pro charges for each operator seat past the 5 it includes.
- Lots of subcontractors: Yeti.
- You want accounting to sync without a file import: Yeti.
- Snow in winter, lawn care in summer, one system: Yeti.
- Crews of up to 5 operators, within the Free plan’s limits: Icey, free.
- Per-event rate cards and seasonal contracts with salt priced in, signed online: Icey.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Yeti or Icey cheaper?
It depends on your crew. Yeti starts at $95 USD a month for 1–25 sites and doesn’t charge per user. Icey is free for up to 5 operator seats and up to 15 active sites; above that, Pro is $79 CAD/month with 5 operator seats included, + $29 per extra seat. For 20 sites and a crew of 4, Icey is $79 CAD a month.
Does Yeti have a free plan?
Yeti’s website, checked in October 2026, lists one plan starting at $95 USD a month and no free plan. Some earlier reviews describe a free tier, so ask Yeti what is current. Icey’s Free plan has up to 5 operator seats and up to 15 active sites.
Which one connects to QuickBooks?
Yeti lists an integration with QuickBooks Online. Icey exports invoices as a CSV file in the format QuickBooks imports; there is no direct sync.
Are Yeti and Icey both Canadian?
Yes — both are in British Columbia: Yeti in Langley and Icey in North Vancouver. Yeti prices in USD; Icey prices in CAD.
Which is better for slip-and-fall documentation?
Both record GPS, time-stamped photos and a service record for each visit. Yeti’s FAQ says you can export an audit report when a claim arrives; Icey makes a site report for every completed visit and keeps salt amounts in your own records. Run a real storm on each and look at what you would hand an insurer.
Can I move from Yeti to Icey?
If you can export your clients and sites to a spreadsheet, Icey’s CSV import brings them in, so you don’t retype them.
